they work:
The fingertip
pulse
oximeter clips onto a
single
finger. Make sure the LED readout is facing
upwards. Press
the button on your unit and wait until the readout settles on
the
correct reading. Most models will show you the blood oxygen saturation
level, the pulse rate, and the pulse strength. Tips: Take
your pulse oximeter with you on
your next trip to the doctor and compare the readings on it with your
doctors' pulse oximeter to ensure correct operation.
These
devices are not intended for monitoring
blood pressure.

cord By coleRT - I'm a RRT(respiratory therapist) and I purchased this pulse ox several months ago. I use it daily and have found it to be very accurate. It is lightweight, easy to read in dark or bright rooms, and works well on pts with poor circulation. The only complaints I have is that it is slower and more sensitive to motion than $400 handheld models. I have also noticed the lettering for SPO2 an HR has already started to wear off. I am an oxygen patient with damaged lungs and need oxygen with any exertion and to sleep. With the Nonin, I am able to keep track of my oxygen saturation rates and use my oxygen when I need it. No guessing involved! My doctor compared my readings on my machine to the machine he has in his office... and they were identical readings! Great portable system used by professionals. Keep track of rapid or low heart rates and, if necessary, your O2 levels. The only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 stars is because I think the batteries should be able to last longer. If needed, I will replace my Nonin with another of the same.
